Italy is not just where our sunglasses our made. Italy is a part of who we are. We embody the Italian way of life, seeing everything with wistful creativity and deep passion. What we see impacts and inspires us, and we want to share some of that with you.
Please enjoy part two of 'AMORE,’ featuring style babe and travel guru, Lauren Burke of The Foreign Edition.

Tell us a little about yourself! Feel free to brag ;)
Hello! My name is Lauren Burke and I was born in Laguna Beach, California twenty-one years ago. I have been raised in Orange County my entire life with my two sisters and parents. My family is originally from South Africa, so my heritage has always been deeply rooted in my daily life. Ever since I was a young girl I knew I wanted to be a part of the fashion industry and have never changed my mind!
Life moved quickly and I was already in college. I left beautiful Orange County to go up North to San Francisco. I lasted one year there and decided I wanted to follow my dream and move to London. I have lived in London and gone to Regent’s University for the past two years and I absolutely love it. I have always had a thirst for travel and a craving for something different, so I knew London was the place! This city is filled with so much culture, always has something going on, and, my favorite, offers me the ability to travel all over Europe with ease!
With everything London had to offer, it gave me the final push to create my blog, The Foreign Edition, which is an outlet for me to share my fashion, lifestyle, and travels in hopes of inspiring my followers. I’d like to think that I have been lucky enough to live in two of the most amazing places in the world; half of the years alongside the beaches and the other half in a big city!

We know you’re a style babe. Where does your fashion inspo come from?
My style will forever be evolving and I cannot wait to see what I will be putting together in the future. My biggest inspirations come from my friends, influencers I follow, and the places I have traveled to. Some of my favorite bloggers that I like to gain style tips from are Julie Sariñana from Sincerely Jules, Shea Marie from Peace Love Shea, Chiara Ferragni from The Blonde Salad, and Danielle Bernstein from We Wore What.
Each girl has a different style from the next and they all inspire me to different ways of styling whether that be plain jeans and white tee or a mix and matching a printed dress with printed shoes. But, I will have to say that my traveling has definitely affected my style choice the most because I love to study the cultures of the world and integrate what I see into my very own closet. It’s always fun to explore different ways to dress and what I have learned is that as along as you have confidence, you can pull off anything!

Aside from your fashion sense, your Instagram is filled with dreamy travel destinations. What’s your favorite spot (okay… top three), and why?
I can go on and on for days about the dreamy places I’ve had the chance to visit because the world is just too beautiful to limit it to three spots! The three below are a few of my favorites.. Seven years ago, my family and I traveled to Chang Rai, Thailand and were in for a trip of a lifetime! We stayed at the Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle where we got to cruise down the Mekong River into the heart of the Golden Triangle, where Thailand, Burma and Laos converge, explore the town and visit the markets and temples, and most importantly, interact with elephants! Elephants are my favorite animal and I was lucky enough to ride them through the jungle, give them baths, and feed them their breakfast. Chai Rai was the perfect balance of nature, culture, adventure, and relaxation.
The South of France is one of my favorite summertime vacation spots. This small, seaside town is more famously known as Saint-Tropez and is located along the French Riviera. Every time I visit Saint-Tropez I make sure to always do a few things; stay in Hotel Le Sube, which is a small boutique hotel overlooking the port, an early morning visit to Boulangerie for my all-time favorite almond croissant, and of course, spend my days at either one of my favorite beach clubs, Nikki Beach and Le Club 55.
Last, but definitely not least, a new favorite of mine is the small island of Formentera. I went to visit the beautiful place this past April with my best friend after a few fun days and nights in Ibiza. Formentera is located in Spain and is just a 30-minute ferry ride from Ibiza! This tiny island is filled with white beaches, crystal blue waters, and some of the friendliest people I have ever met. One of my favorite memories from this trip was when my friend and I rented bikes, rode them through fields of sunflowers, and ended up on a beautiful beach. It all felt surreal and I cannot wait to go back and visit again!

Craziest travel story. Go.
Three years ago my older sister, my father, and I traveled to Durban, South Africa for my cousin’s wedding and since we had not been back in a few years, we decided to drive up to a Safari the day after the wedding. It was a few hour drive to the grounds and little did we realize, we were very low on gas! There we were, in the middle of nowhere, no one or nothing in sight, and down to about 20 miles of gas. We got off the highway and asked a friendly face for the closest petrol station and she informed us to get back on the highway for quite a few more miles until we hit a certain exit. 5 miles in the tank left, we reached the exit, and still had no clue where exactly we were headed.
At this point, my dad, sister, and I said a few prayers each and weren’t sure whether to laugh or panic. Someone must have been watching over us that day because we made it to the petrol station with less than 1 mile left. With a full tank of gas, we headed to the safari park with many laughs and even more sighs of relief. If some of you are unaware of the dangers of Africa, then I’ll just let you know that it would not be good to get stuck… oh the things that could have happened.

Your blog, The Foreign Edition, compiles all your interests into one amazing space. Can you tell us a little about it?
Ever since I was about thirteen years old, I would always walk around telling people about how I wanted to have my very own fashion blog and live in London. Who knew, seven years later, that my dream would actually become my reality! The Foreign Edition is an outlet that lets me be creative and express my personal thoughts, style, and travels.
When people ask me why I chose “The Foreign Edition” as the name of the blog, I first tell them that it came with a lot of thought and contemplation. But, the real reason behind my name is because I had just moved to London and was literally foreign to everywhere I ended up. If you think about it, we are all foreigners to places we have been whether that is on a trip or even to a new coffee shop. With my blog, I hope to inspire people to go out and try some of the places, outfits, or tips that I love.

Current favorite item in your closet?
If I want to talk about something that I wear everyday… then that would be my Saint Christopher necklace. You will see that gold necklace around my neck in almost every photo because I never take it off! My grandma gave it to me with her initials engraved on the back, so it definitely has sentimental value. Saint Christopher is also the patron saint of travel so I like to think he keeps me safe on all of my journeys :)
But, if you want to talk about one of my most cherished items of the moment.. then that would have to be my miniature LV backpack. I recently got it this year and am obsessed with it. It’s different, which is what I like most besides it being a small backpack that I can easily wear every day.

Dream item to get your hands on?
To be honest, I don't really have my eye on anything at the moment. One dream that I would love to become a reality is to receive a box of airplane tickets (or a private jet for that matter lol) where I can fly around the world to the destinations on my bucket list.
Another dream of mine would be to have an organization, like Black Jaguar White Tiger, where I can rescue animals. For those who know me know I have an obsession with all animals. At home, I currently have three cats, two dogs, two chinchillas, and about 30 doves that come visit my backyard for some more seeds. I love giving back, especially when it has something to do with animals, so to be able to get my hands on a charity that does so would be my dream!

If you had to choose, what is one thing you would share with girls who are interested in fashion?
My biggest advice to girls who are interested in fashion would to just be yourself and follow your dream. I know that sounds cliche but it is so true. You don't need to compete with anyone or feel the need to act or dress a certain way in order to get something out of it. As long as you are confident in yourself, then you will succeed. Have fun with your fashion… wear what you want, say what you want, and be who you want to be. It’s okay to be different; and in my experience, being different is better than trying to be like everyone else. After all, fashion is what you make of it!
If you have a dream, then you need to work hard for it. Nothing comes easy and that is just life! There is no better feeling than working hard, chasing the things you want most in life, and achieving your goals.
